From exposure to family ventures in Real Estate to an education as a Bachelor of  Science in Building, further studies in Real Estate and Property Development and 8 years of  Cyprus residential property. Having experienced the changes in the property market in Cyprus over the previous 3 ‘crisis’ years, I have come to a realisation that the market is flooded with bargain properties and that the real top end of the market has suffered as a result. Our goal is to promote prestige homes built to a high, safe standard.

Since the late 90’s a massive property boom occurred in Cyprus. The demand was such that developments began mushrooming all over the island. In most cases the people behind these developments were inexperienced, unimaginitave and profit-driven individuals and companies. Profits were a priority and creativity and pride in design and workmanship lagged.

There is so much of this in Cyprus. Box shaped structures of what I call ‘off the shelf’ design. What I mean by off the shelf is that architects were more than willing to sell their designs on a mass scale. Over and over again their plans were used, adjusted only to fit on the land proposed for development.

Shabby workmanship did not fall too far behind. I think back to steel reinforcement bars being so visible after a dried concrete pour that one could pass their hand into the void and grab hold of the steel. Expansion joints in concrete slabs and between concrete and brickwork were not used due to either lack of experience or a lack of will to do so. Poor water-proofing installations meant that rain and moisture found its way into the structure. Many more such examples can be mentioned.

These technical terms may not mean much to you but the fact is that many properties built during this period were done so in this way.

There are some fantastic homes with creative thought behind their original design, where the builders took pride in their work. Quality materials were used to produce elegant lines, complimenting features, and superior workmanship. Villas of Cyprus grandeur, modern hi-tech homes with cantilever design and large, reflective floor to ceiling windows, immaculate traditional village homes replicating the old yet using the latest building technologies…
